Work-Exchange Internships

RMS welcomes a special few people to come work on the farm in exchange for room and board, for whatever period of time is enriching for both you and Reevis. Although we do not require a commitment on either side, we prefer that interns be able and willing to stay at least three months. We cannot afford to pay interns, and most interns cannot afford to pay us, in dollars.

What we provide you - besides just time being here - is lodging in a yurpee (combination of yurt and teepee, which will have a bed for your sleeping bag, wood stove, and space for your personal things, but no electricity or interior water), nutritious omnivorous organic meals, hot showers, and ad-hoc training related to whatever work is going on while you are here.

The work exchange is full time, seven days a week, six to ten hours per day, on a variable schedule. Days off may be arranged, but in general interns need to be focused on the work exchange - it is not advisable to try to combine an RMS work exchange with school work, freelance work, or substantial reading, writing, etc. Please note that we cannot accommodate pets, and Internet access is not available. Alcohol, illegal drugs, and smoking are are not permitted (no leeway on this), and we discourage caffeine addictions.

We have gardening work year round, construction projects underway (both stone masonry and conventional wood-frame building), and all sorts of the projects and tasks that come up on a working homestead. This is a wonderful place to learn new skills.

As of February 2012, we have one immediate opening and are looking for more folks for March-May as well as for the fall and onward. We MAY have space for the summer - please email Patricia to inquire. If you are interested in a summer internship, shorter stays than three months are possible, but the longer the better. We require a $50 deposit from accepted applicants to hold a spot. Transportation from Phoenix can usually be arranged.

Please understand that we give applications careful consideration, discussion, and meditation, and please submit an application only if you are actually committed to coming to Reevis if invited.

To apply, please email Patricia and ask for an internship application, or download it by clicking here.

In addition to work exchange interns, we also welcome inquiries from individuals, couples, and small families who have homesteading skills and are seeking a peaceful, enriching place to live for a long term. Please email Patricia.
